IPLV stands for Integrated Part Load Value. It is a metric used to evaluate the efficiency of chillers at various load conditions.

Calculation Method

The IPLV is calculated using a weighted average formula that considers the chiller's performance at four different load conditions: 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25%.

  1. 100% Load: Full capacity.
  2. 75% Load: 75% of full capacity.
  3. 50% Load: 50% of full capacity.
  4. 25% Load: 25% of full capacity.

The formula for IPLV is:

                IPLV = 1 / [(0.01/A) + (0.42/B) + (0.45/C) + (0.12/D)]
            

Where A, B, C, and D are the COPs (Coefficient of Performance) at 100%, 75%, 50%, and 25% load conditions, respectively.

Applications

IPLV is used to assess the energy efficiency of chillers in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. It helps in selecting the most efficient chiller for variable load conditions.
